Some progress this month. He's babbling more, though not quite speaking. Neither of his parents were quick to talk, so that's probably hereditary. He can drink from a straw, and can stack blocks four high, and can stand quite well without a support - though he doesn't know this yet, so he only does it when he's not paying attention. This is quickly following by a "ZOMG I'm standing must grab onto something!" moment. His motor skills are getting better by the week; he can now put a straw in a cup with a lid, which is not always easy for us adults, after six or seven espressos anyway.
He's learning a little patience: we can now set him down to put on his carrier, and he does a little happy baby dance, knowing that he's about to go for a walk. There's generosity of spirit, too. He often gives things away, often quite insistently. Granted, he expects them returned upon demand.
His new favorite thing is dogs. Squirrels and birds, too. He'll coo at them and stretch out to keep them in sight when they pass by. It is of course very cute when he watches a squirrel sit and chew on an acorn, while he hoots and coos at it. It's a little odder when he does the same for turkey vultures at the park.
Clarification: to the best of my knowledge, the turkey vultures do not in fact eat acorns. It was the other part that was odd, where - oh, never mind.
